According to the most recent update from the CDC, the U.S. had administered more than 440,000,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines across the country as of Sunday morning.
More than 226 million have received at least one vaccination dose and 195 million are considered fully vaccinated. More than 29 million have received one dose of booster.
In the total U.S. population, 68 percent of people who are eligible received at least one vaccination. For those who are 65 or older, 99.1% have been vaccinated.
For people who are 18 and over, 81.3% have received at least one dose. For all eligible people in the U.S. — including ages 12 and older — the vaccination rate is 79.4%.
About 15 percent of the population received an additional dose, CDC data shows. About 35.5% have had an additional shot for those older than 65 and followed by 24.55% of those 50 years old and over and 16% of those aged 18 and over.
According to Bloomberg News, nearly 10 million doses of vaccines have been administered in the past week. This is the most number since May. Shot boosters, vaccine requirements and the availability of doses for children for children between 5 and 11 have all contributed to an increase in the number of vaccines.
The news outlet reported that COVID-19-related infections are increasing in the U.S. at the same time. The number of new infections rose to their highest in over an entire month during the week ending Friday.
According to USA Today, most states are seeing an increase in cases.
No state has achieved a high enough vaccination rate, even when coupled with infection-induced immunity to avoid the outbreaks occurring now, the news outlet reported. The more infectious Delta variant is causing the outbreaks that are now occurring and those who aren’t vaccinated are responsible for the majority of hospitalizations and illnesses across the country.
