The Wuhan Institute of Virology has denied allegations by American media that the new coronavirus has leaked from the laboratory, stating that it aims to confuse people and interfere with Chinese scientific studies.
This is what emerged from an interview with Yuan Zhiming, Director of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, granted to the state channel CGTN.
“It is impossible that this virus will come from here,” he said. Adding that “there is no evidence that the virus was produced in vitro,” he added.
“The allegations are based entirely on speculation and are intended to confuse and interfere with Chinese scientific studies”, hammered the official.
Zhiming also said that no case of contamination has been recorded within the Institute.

The mysterious virus, which first appeared in China on December 12, 2019, in the city of Wuhan, infected more than 2,414,000 people around the world, more than 165,000 of whom died while more than 629,000 sick died recovered from contamination.
