Coronavirus (COVID-19): 127 dead and 5,423 confirmed cases in France, according to national public health agency

This increase in the number of deaths and contaminations is the largest recorded in a day in France since the appearance of the virus on the territory.

The coronavirus epidemic left 127 dead on Sunday, 36 more than on Saturday, and 5,423 cases of contamination were confirmed, or more than 900 additional cases in one day, according to the daily count of the national public health agency, Public Health France.

This increase in the number of deaths and contaminations is the largest recorded in a day in France since the appearance of the virus on the territory. A little earlier, the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, had mentioned on France 2 a total of 120 dead and 5,400 cases.

“We are all actors”

The Minister of Health called in passing all the French to respect the social distancing measures recommended by the authorities to curb the spread of the virus, saying he had himself observed, in Grenoble and Paris, many scenes of family outings this weekend, including grandparents with their grandchildren.

“We are all actors in health, the decisions we make on a daily basis, the outing that we are going to cancel, the family evening or the family meal that we are not going to do: all of this is crucial to protect the health of French.

The virus is invisible, it circulates quickly and it threatens the lives of people. I urge the French to respect social restriction measures, “said Olivier Véran.
